Let's look at this realistically.

Lies, damned lies and mission statements

Little Brothers of The Good Shepherd

The Fantasy:
Good Shepherd, through our Faith in People, protects and promotes human dignity, equality, progress and potential. We support thousands of vulnerable members of our community every year and help them re-establish healthy and productive lives.

The Fact:
My own experiences, which found Good Shepherd to be much more of a hindrance, to re-establishing a healthy and productive life, than a help are outlined in the article: "Shepherd's siblings screwing sheep". Of the dozen or so people I'm acquainted with, who Good Shepherd has "helped", the majority are living in dumpy rooms, abusing alcohol and/or drugs, in order to cope; one is back in prison and two are dead due to heroin. Sadly, I seem to be doing the best of all and that in spite of Good Shepherd's "help"; by no means because of it.

Good Shepherd lied to me about assisting with a rent subsidy. I suspect they're lying about having any intention of helping people re-establish healthy and productive lives. I say that for the following reasons. Caseworkers; those responsible for "helping", at Good Shepherd Centre, aren't required to have any relevant training, education or experience. Some are great and do what they can, within the very narrow limits imposed by Good Shepherd. Some have "issues", which may affect their ability to "help". For example and from my own observations:
~ a caseworker assaulting a "guest", as "clients" are referred to, without provocation
~ a homosexual caseworker "fawning" over "twinks", as young "pretty boys" (who shouldn't be in an adult shelter) are referred to
~ a caseworker with a court ordered alcohol interlock device on their vehicle
~ a caseworker "borrowing", commonly abused, prescription medication from a "guest"

This, of course, is "circumstantial evidence". What, I think, shows that Good Shepherd has no intention of helping people re-establish healthy and productive lives is that a caseworker, responsible for "helping", at Good Shepherd Centre, is paid TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT less than a receptionist. "...help them re-establish healthy and productive lives"? "Money talks; bullshit walks", as they say.
